drums are slappin and that saturated bass is woppin but wtf are those insanely off key synths in the background, i hear like a heavily saturated lead with some delay on it, i think its a cool sound but super off key. i hear d#maj7, dm7, gm7 are the base chords looping on the rhodes and then theres a synth that doubles it with more chords but again off key, think thats the only thing that bothered me when i listened to this for the first time lol, it sounds like some gritty ass alternative hip hop beat and its cool in terms of gritty and dirtyness, just wished those synths didn't sound off key. Hope you take that into consideration in the future even if it is intentional doesn't really give a pleasant sound imo.

I appreciate the critique

What you have here has some cool ideas, and is fitting based on the theme. I like the choice of synthwave and rock fused in too. Honestly reminded me of Expendabros or just some badass action movie. The heavy guitar works very well and the melodies sound good. My only big criticism is probably the mix and the sound of drums. I think the mix lacked some glue and punch. The drums sound very dead in the mix, the only part where the drums are more open to hear is the beginning with the synths and the parts where the guitar playing gets more subtle and quieter. I think its because as soon as the song builds up there are a lot more layers like the guitar that are super loud that overpower the drums. There was a point where i could barely hear the snare around a minute in, believe it was the breakdown. I think what could fix this is probably adding some compression to the drums and definitely bring them up in the mix. Make the kick a little more boomy, MAYBE change the snare to a different one that has little more decay and ring to it to match with the rock-yness vibe of the song because the snare was probably the most dead sounding in the mix, and i don't mean dead as in a bad way at all, its just a way of describing a snare that hasn't got too much punch to it. Essentially, try using a drum bus to bring more out of the drum sound and then in the master EQ a little bit of the highs to have the hi-hats stick out more with air though maintaining the harsh frequencies and definitely bring out more lows too because when the guitar comes in the bass is almost not even there lol, and you know when you got a song like this one, you're gonna need some awesome bass in there (despite there being the synth bass but i mean more where the guitar part is heaviest). Finally, make sure everything is balanced and leveled using the ears. Overall bro, song is good, and has some great potential with the melodies and just the feeling of it in general, just work on the mixing a little bit, try experimenting more with compression on drums and the master and you'll get there. Don’t know what sound references you’re using but best to use some monitors if ya can afford them ;)

Thank you for the feedback!! Im gonna go and give those drums some punch for the game release!

Really cool stuff right here, really gave me some early 2000s video game vibes, but most of all one specific game this song reminded me of was Sims Bustin' Out on the Gameboy Advance. The main reason being was because of those chord shots in the background, like if you bit-crushed this down a few samples that would really give it that Bustin' out GBA vibe.

THIS specific song dude I swear to god there's some chord shots in your song that sound very alike to this Sims track. I know its a very specific example but its because this game was probably one of my favorites as a kid, and as soon as I heard Lemonade it hit me.

Must I say more, love the sampled vocal chops and the drums sound great! its a very standard 90s hip hop groove but its a classic and of course that "semitone" chord progression you made with what I'd assume sounds like chord shots from some sample library.

Overall very fun and rhythmic track

milkypossum responds:

Yo thank you! I love messing around with samples, it's so fun! And that sims track is BUSSIN, I never played that game on GBA and this is my first time hearing that but sHEEEESH them pads n lead synth!

Brah almost sounded like the melody from ghost busters in the beginning. Pretty cool

TeraVex responds:

LMAO I was goin for a sonic rush sorta mini melody but now that you tell me I can't unhear it... I'mma probably bury that under everything now

very cool, love the synths, really 80s sounding. Prob one of my favorites from the advent soundtrack. :)
